Practical Guiding Skills

• Map & compass navigation (orienteering)

• Trip and event planning (from gear to group dynamics)

• Fly fishing as a tool for mentorship and connection

• Risk awareness & emergency preparedness in the field

Safety & Certification

• CPR and/or Basic First Aid certification

  (included to ensure every Guide is equipped to respond in real-life situations)

Ministry Formation: The Four Streams

You’ll be trained to discern what a man needs—and respond wisely, using the Four Streams of masculine initiation:

• Discipleship – walking with men toward maturity in Christ

• Counseling – learning to listen, discern, and care for the soul

• Spiritual Warfare – understanding and standing in spiritual authority

• Healing – cultivating environments of prayer and restoration

The rhythm of the practicum is simple but powerful:

Orient → Teach → Release

Each day includes:

• Morning prayer and reflection

• Hands-on skill training

• CPR / First Aid sessions

• Small group ministry discussions

• Storytelling from seasoned Guides

• Shared meals, chores, and leadership rotations

This isn’t a watch-from-the-sidelines experience. Every trainee will serve, lead, guide, and grow.

Information doesn’t make a man into a Guide. Formation does.

You’ll be shaped through:

• Real-world responsibility

• Shared hardship and brotherhood

• Live ministry conversations and correction

• Leadership practice in the wilderness

• Honest reflection in a community of men

The Guide Intensive creates a contained wilderness—a space where men can test themselves, receive feedback, and grow into the role they were created for.

By the end of the Guide Intensive, you will:

Hold current CPR and/or First Aid certification

Demonstrate field-ready guiding and safety skills

Understand how to minister through the Four Streams

Lead others with clarity, humility, and confidence

Take a significant step forward in your identity as a Guide
